Job Summary: Data & Production Management Associates perform data research, and document production activities at the direction of physicians. Activities may include researching medical billing codes, researching scientific literature, sourcing cost data, working with medical cost/vendor surveys and cost analyses, and extensive proofing.
To be considered, candidates must be ready to work in a fast-paced environment and be adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects at the same time. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, excellent proofreading skills, a good attitude, a strong work ethic, and a firm commitment to deadlines are prerequisite.
This position requires seven to eight hours per day of prolonged sitting.
Essential Job Functions
• Understanding medical procedures and their differences.
• Researching appropriate medical codes to various types of treatments and procedures.
• Making outbound telephone calls to location-specific vendors.
• Managing and auditing data.
• Utilizing data in arithmetic calculations.
• Managing communication between physicians and other staff and experts.
• Utilizing proprietary software.
• Performing quality control and proofreading medical documents.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Education and Experience
o Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or Chemistry OR;
o Medical Billing and Coding Certification with 2 years of professional experience in a medical office or a medically related field OR;
o 10+ years of professional experience in a medical office or a medically related field.
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9/10 CM, MS-DRG medical codes.
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and surgical procedures.
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Strong grammatical and mathematical skills (arithmetic, fractions, etc.).
• Ability to work with monetary values, weight and measurements, volumes and distances.
• Maintains HIPAA patient confidentiality standards for medical information.
• Must be able to contribute to building a positive team spirit; put the success of team above own interests; support everyone’s efforts to succeed.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid problem-solving skills to include:
o Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
o Strong memory recall abilities allowing for the individual to effectively draw from past experiences to resolve future issues.
• Ability to obtain a CBCS certification within the first year of employment (if hired without an active CBCS certification).
• Typing 40+ wpm.
Preferred Qualification
• CBCS Certificate or equivalent
Work Schedule
• 5 day/40-hour work week: Mon - Fri 8:30am - 5:30pm
• Overtime may be required as needed in accordance with end-of-month, end-of-quarter and end-of year-processes.
