Blast Booth Technician

Position Summary: All aspects of media blasting of metals in large and small blasting chambers. Safety, housekeeping and
routine inspection and maintenance of the blasting equipment.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities: Describe four to five responsibilities of the position which reflect the main activities in order
of importance of the duties/ time spent.
• Shovels or pours abrasive media of specified grade into machine hopper. Masks specified areas of object
to protect from abrading action. Loads parts in large or small chambers. Turns valves on equipment to
regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle. Starts equipment that
directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air over the surface of part/s. Use of direct nozzle over
surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts
under nozzle for specified intervals.
• Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
Ability to inspect equipment and make minor repairs as needed.

Required Qualifications: Describe the minimum required education, experience (type and years), and skill/competencies
• High School Diploma or equivalence.
• Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Describe qualifications preferred to enhance immediate job performance
• Previous experience with blast media equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
