Staff Accountant

Position summary: Assist the Controller in carrying out all company accounting operations.
Qualifications required:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 to 4 years Accounting related experience
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
· Ability to be a team player and establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from different departments and at varying levels of the company.
· Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
· Good communications and organizational skills
Qualifications desired:
· Preference will be given to holders of CPA or CMA certification
· Experience in a similar job
· Experience with ADP payroll and 401(k) plans
· Experience in working with outside auditors for company audits
· Experience with IFS ERP software or similar
Essential functions and responsibilities:
P&L analysis, inventory, costing analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
Produce weekly management report each Friday afternoon and distribute
Produce weekly cash sources and uses report for CFO each week
Reconcile taxes and wages, prepare reports for state and federal governments as required
Bank reconciliations each month
Assist with annual audit performed by external auditors, including the preparation of adequate work papers that support the financial statements
Maintain asset files. Administer the construction in progress projects. Monitor spending against approvals, compile invoices in General Ledger into a completed project for transfer into asset files. Prepare total cost of ownership and ROI analysis
Process office, plant and executive petty cash
Prepare “need right now” special ad-hoc accounting reports as needed by management
Develop accounting reports using IFS, Business Analytics and Excel as needed
· Back-up to Controller for supervision and training of accounting staff
· Assist in preparing the annual budget and assist department executives in analysis of budget vs. actual reporting
· Be trained as back-up to Payroll Clerk for processing ADP payroll during vacations or absences
· Submit recommendations to Controller and CFO for improvements in management, reporting and any ongoing deficiencies in company operations
· Follow all quality and food safety policies and procedures to ensure CDF products meet all applicable customer, regulatory and industry standards
· Must follow all company policies and procedures
· Other duties as needed

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to sit for long periods of time, able to work on PC screens for long periods of time.
Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
