Role and Responsibilities
A security officer may prevent crime with their highly visible presence. The main duty of a security officer is to observe and report incidents, hazards, or disturbances on your post.
Skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations
• Critical thinking and sound judgement
• Ability to communicate effectively in English or Spanish, orally and in writing; bilingual is a plus
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
Duties
• Provide a visual security presence
• Regularly patrol perimeter of your post
• Ensure operations on the property are running smoothly without disturbances
• Secure windows, doors, gates, stairwells, fire exits, mechanical rooms and other access points to ensure no trespassing
• Report safety hazards or unlawful activity to appropriate personnel
• Write daily reports
• Follow standard operating procedures for daily operations and in the event of an incident or emergency
