POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Daycare Director, the daycare aide will be responsible for planning, organizing, and promoting the daycare activities. The daycare aide is responsible for working with the daycare director and daycare members to provide an optimal learning environment. The daycare aide is to assist children when needed, as well as helping the daycare director prepare and execute recreational activities. This includes performing organizational duties for the daycare director, such as copying, printing and other clerical work.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
1. Organize games and other recreational activities for daycare members, maintaining health and safety standards.
2. Aid in designing and implementing enriching activities.
3. Assist daycare members with their homework.
4. Assist with or prepare and hand out snacks as needed.
5. Ensure sanitation of all surfaces, equipment and toys
6. Help in maintaining a clean and organized daycare environment.
7. Prepare Incident and Accident Report as needed.
8. Help with bulletin board preparation.
9. Assist in management of equipment and facilities.
10. Take attendance.
11. Communicate progress and observations to parents
12. Operate equipment such as projectors and computers for instructional purposes.
13. Maintain appropriate daycare discipline and decorum.
14. Ensure that daycare members retain information by repeating information constantly and practicing patience.
15. Driver responsibilities.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: (Education, experience, skills required)
· High School Graduate
· One-year daycare experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
· Must have some proficiency with computers
· Good communication skills.
· Must be Adult/Child CPR & First Aid
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Requires the ability to speak, hear, use a personal computer for standard business communications, and the ability lift up to 15 lbs.
· Be able to lift 40 pounds, stand up to 95% of the day
· Physically able to perform activities with children, i.e. stooping, bending, sitting jump, dance, walk, and run, etc. for extended periods of time and have the ability to move from seat to seat or to a standing position immediately
· Tolerate being outside for regular or prolonged periods of time
· Demonstrate acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children’s well being
· Maintain a current physical exam annually, showing TB test with results that have occurred within 24 months of exam date
