Our Food Services team is seeking a junior cook to join our team in our Bloomfield location. In this position the right candidate would assist with the preparation of meals based on a pre-determined meal schedule, deliver meals for several of our locations in the Hartford area, order supplies, complete kitchen inventories and maintain a clean and orderly kitchen for our clients who are transitioning from the criminal justice system back into the community. This role is great for an entry level cook who would like to develop their skills in Food Services while making a difference in the lives of others. This role currently has a starting wage rate of $15.35.
Schedule: Bloomfield Tue- Sat 8AM-4PM
Community Solutions Inc. Using this plan we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 9 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In accordance with the established Agency menu cycles, prepare and serve food for all lunch and dinner meals and set aside food for breakfast meal and evening snack.
Order and restock supplies as needed, staying within the established budget.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and orderliness at all times.
Ensure that all foods are properly stored.
Supervise any clients assisting in meal preparation and/or kitchen cleaning chores.
Maintain personal cleanliness at all times, including clean hands and fingernails, a clean apron and garments, and appropriate use of hairnets or hats. Plastic gloves should be used as required.
Communicate to the Program Director any relevant information pertaining to food services issues, including any deviations from the approved menu or from established procedures or policy.
Ensure compliance with all city, state and federal health codes.
Maintain knowledge of regulations related to food received from the Food Bank or other sources whose use is restricted, and ensure compliance with these regulations.
Load and deliver prepared meals or food items to remote programs, adhering to proper food handling guidelines.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
One year cooking experience
Valid driver’s license and clear driving record is required to drive Agency vehicles. The use of a personal vehicle may be required.
Serv-Safe certification preferred
Federal Background clearance
COVID19 vaccination or a negative test prior to starting
