Benefits Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is to support benefits and wellness initiatives across the company. This person will be responsible for the administration of the Hydrite benefit plans with a focus on day-to-day plan management, employee communication, and compliance reporting.
Supports the implementation of new plans, programs, and changes to plans and/or administrative procedures. Prepare documentation of process and technology change needs.
Administers company leave program including FMLA, ADA, military leave, jury duty, and meet compliance requirements.
Assists employees in understanding benefits offerings and acts as a liaison with third-party providers.
Administers benefits for new hires and terminated employees and the completion of required government documents (5500, SAR, Medicare Part D, etc.)
Updates benefits-related communications (content, postings, email, HCM) to maintain accuracy and promotion throughout the year.
Educate employees about their benefits through new employee orientation, branch visits, and other communication mediums.
Completes annual open enrollment initiatives, life events, and new hire benefit enrollment as assigned.
Prepares, with legal and management consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended Summary Plan Description texts
Maintains records related to benefits plan participation and contributions.
Process Profit Sharing Plan and 401(k) Plan loans and in-service withdrawals.
Process rollovers into the 401(k) plan.
Prepare for and manage retirement plan audits.
Administer 401(k) and Profit-Sharing benefits, and partner in the administration of medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, health savings, life insurance, legal insurance, and disability benefits and claims.
Uphold data integrity through performing quality audits of data in HCM
Collaborate with HR Managers and branch contacts regarding benefit updates and other company initiatives
Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Benefits Manager.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA
Bachelor’s Degree required. Business, Finance or HR preferred.
5+ years of experience administering benefits in a mid to large size organization
Thorough working knowledge of employee benefits and applicable federal and state regulations including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and DOL requirements.
HCM experience required, Ultipro preferred
PHR or SPHR preferred
Customer Service skills, strong attention to detail, sense of urgency
Basic math aptitude
Self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to travel 10-15%
