The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the reliability, improvement, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing and support equipment, buildings, and building systems. Partners with engineers and manufacturing resources to ensure efficient day-to-day production operations. Works as a collaborative team member to continuously improve production processes, equipment reliability, and tool performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues that include, but are not limited to, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical (low and high voltage), and controls.
Exhibit a commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA, other regulatory authorities, and internal requirements. Lead the charge in ensuring and safe work environment.
Functional responsibility for hazardous waste streams.
Perform minor and major tasks to established work instructions and procedures (written and unwritten).
Execute high quality workmanship and professionalism in all tasks.
Exhibit a sense of urgency on issues so that they are resolved in a timely manner.
Perform assigned preventive maintenance (PM) activities. Initiate continuous improvement in PMs to improve uptime, safety, and quality.
Develop training for manufacturing personnel, as needed, to prevent incidents impact reliability.
Support and actively promote continuous improvement and TPM.
Target degradation and potential issues before they become failures.
Assist with process and equipment improvements.
Initiate investigations and corrective actions to incidents by utilizing problem solving methodologies.
Actively participate in special task teams as required, with the goal of improving uptime, optimizing costs, and minimizing scheduled and unscheduled downtime.
Analyze equipment records for trends, variations, improvement opportunities.
Maintain housekeeping in work areas, and around equipment and work sites.
Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) data related to work performed.
Keep relevant documentation current and accessible.
Direct, manage, and assist contractors in performance of commissioned work.
Follow purchasing practices.
Actively participate in budget creation and control.
Be able to be trained and operate a powered industrial truck.
Communicate effectively, including status updates, opportunities, and concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
o Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
o Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
o Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. PPE is required is certain designated areas.
Requires employee to be subject-to-call during hours other that the assigned shift, which may include nights and/or weekends as needed.
Work overtime to support the operation as needed/required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
o Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms talk or hear.
o Frequently required to walk, climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
o Occasionally required to sit or smell.
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Follow prescribed safety guidelines in accordance to ORAFOL Americas Safety program; use required PPE
Maintains an optimal level of product quality and adheres to ORAFOLs Quality Program
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED.
Technical school preferred.
Certificates and/or licenses that relate to successfully performing the essential functions of the job are desired.
Work Experience:
1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Should have basic skills in MS Office, and some knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or similar software is preferred.
Aptitudes & Characteristics:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance. instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information including abstract and concrete variables.
Must has a positive can do attitude and a sense of accountability; takes initiative
