HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN (FLSA Non-Exempt)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
We are looking for experienced Service Technicians to fill immediate openings. We specialized in commercial and industrial
facilities in San Diego County.
REQUIREMENTS: skills, knowledge, education
• Must have at least (4) years of relevant HVAC field experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have and provide a clean DMV report covering the past (3) years.
• Must understand and comply with all safety and OSHA requirements.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be capable of effectively speaking and writing in the English language.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Capable of working alone or on a team.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding technical issues.
• HVAC Trade school or college courses a plus.
• Must understand the fundamentals of refrigeration systems, chillers, pumps, air handling systems, duct work and
VAV systems, boilers, etc.
• Must understand electrical troubleshooting for both low voltage controls and high voltage power.
SALARY RANGE: Hourly $25-50/hr. Based on Experience

TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Technical Knowledge
• Maintain a high level of understanding of equipment capabilities and operations.
• Able to troubleshoot and correctly diagnose electrical, control and mechanical failures and problems.
• Understand and stay current on industry trends and changes.
• Full E.P.A. certification required.
2. Quantity of work
• Demonstrate an ability to coordinate the overall resolution or multiple customer problems.
• Maintain personal discipline and composure in the performance of multiple customer services.
• Keep supervisor fully informed of work situations, which will impede your fulfillment of customer
commitments.
3. Troubleshooting
• Electrical circuit analysis capability.
• Electrical and mechanical component analysis capability.
• Refrigerant analysis capability.
• Fluid dynamics familiarity.
• Air dynamics familiarity.
• Ability to accurately report problem situations.
4. Customer Relations
• Understand critical value of clients to Pacific Rim Mechanical and associates.
• Maintain same day/return call service group policy.
• Accept responsibility for correction of customer problems brought to your attention.
• Maintain positive communications with all Pacific Rim Mechanical customers and potential customers to
facilitate growth and opportunity.
5. Time Management/Planning
• Ability to stay organized for scheduling requirements.
• Focus on assignment completion to ensure customer satisfaction and timely invoicing.
• Ability to assist dispatcher with prioritizing.
• Maintain professional quality information files for reference with supervisor on payroll, billing, projects, etc.
6. Communication
• Communicate all project opportunities to service manager and projects sales representative.
• Communicate and reschedule all incomplete work with PRM dispatcher.
• Communicate situational information t appropriate customer contact.
• Prepare accurate data entry information.
• Communicate with customers, peers and associates in a courteous and professional manner.
7. Instructing others
• Maintain quality relationships with peers and associates.
• Ability to assists others in proper job development, preparation, layout installation, start-up and systems
testing.
8. Sales assistance
• Understand that sales play a key role in the future of the company.
• Provide direct sales assistance as directed by the service manager.
• Realize that timely delivery of service and communications is the key to customer perceptions of the company.
9. Service reports
• Complete all service reports the same day the work is performed.
• Provide accurate job numbers, equipment numbers, etc.
• Service reports represent an important validation of our services to our customers. They must be prepared in
a professional manner and always presented to the client.
10. Special Projects
• As assigned by the Operations Manager.
11. Vehicles
• Maintenance record keeping responsibility.
• Vehicle safety responsibility
• Professional driving skills required.
12 Safety
• Familiarity with all parameters of constriction safety, OSHA requirements State and Federal.
• A commitment to leadership in developing the safest possible workplace for fellow employee’s and
customers.
13 Internal Communications
• Realize the importance, to the overall success of the company to maintain positive relationships and
communications with all company divisions and personnel.
