The incumbent will serve as a high level professional whose activities will span the interface between the physicians and nurses who manage primarily Pediatric General Surgery patients and also some Pediatric Plastic Surgery patients at Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the Surgery Team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care to both inpatients and outpatients, in collaboration with attendings and residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Chief of Surgery, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
Primarily Pediatric General Surgery and also some Pediatric Plastic Surgery patients at Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of two (2) years recent experience working as an NP in Pediatric Surgery or equivalent experience in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or Neonatal ICU
Completion of an accredited Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program
Master’s Degree in Nursing with an Acute Care pediatric nurse practitioner specialization
Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work
Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
Active NP and Furnishing license in California
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
Completion of the UCSF Medical Staff credentialing process, which may take up to 60 days prior to the date of hire
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience working as an AC-PNP in Pediatric Surgery
License/Certification
California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position
Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work
Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work
Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
Active NP and Furnishing license in California
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (APP) to be credentialed through OMAG to practice and be privileged through CIDP to function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites and affiliates. Credentialing, health plan enrollment, and approval of privileges must be completed prior to the first working day. Inability to comply with the requirements of OMAG/CIDP AT ALL TIMES will result in either, a LOA or suspension of privileges designation.
