POSITION SUMMARY: The Guest Service Representative (Concierge/Host) is responsible for assisting guests that come and ask for assistance. This position will ensure the prompt recognition and seating of all guests, and provide attentive, courteous, and efficient service to guests throughout their dining experience. The Guest Service Representative will answer the phone, ensure menus are present at the front desk for guest deployment and help the guest with any of their questions. They will also be responsible for receiving, organizing, and accurately distributing to-go orders for both delivery companies and guests that have ordered to-go food ahead of time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are intended as basic requirements:
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all vendors, menu offerings, and beverage offerings within the food hall.
Communicating clearly and effectively with guests and co-workers.
Make sure entry doors are clean, free of debris, and inviting.
Answer phones in a prompt manner with appropriate scripting.
Supervise the floor during operation and notify management of any issues.
Periodically wipe down the door handles, frame, and high-touch point areas.
Direct guests to waiting areas and different food stations.
Keep an eye out that the dining room, entryway, bathrooms, and menus are kept clean throughout operations.
Knowledgeable of wine selection in order to offer to incoming guests for purchase.
Drives sales through the engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.
Processing financial transactions of all sales made.
Assists with inventory including receiving and stocking merchandise.
Checking identification to ensure customers are the proper age to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Ensuring that customers are satisfied with service and experience.
Bid farewell to the guests.
Manage all to-go orders for both delivery companies and guests that have placed their orders in advance.
Receive customer orders daily via electronic ordering system or phone.
Ensure the proper order is given to the correct person.
Be able to provide directions to drivers incoming to pick up orders or guests arriving and meet outside the facility if necessary.
Check that all the to-go orders have the correct correspondence according to the receipt.
Communicate any and all inconsistencies to the vendor outlets and resolve them in real time.
Direct any guests complaints or issues to the manager that cannot be quickly and amicably resolved.
Maintain contact with management, service staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed.
Must stay up to date with general knowledge about all concepts and cuisine.
Must have a professional and well-groomed appearance, as The Guest Service Rep is the first impression of Julia & Henry’s experience.
Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Promptly report all maintenance issues.
Service-oriented must have a professional attitude, you will be dealing with high-end customers.
Adhere to all state and federal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol.
Adhere to all Health Department requirements.
Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company.
Any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently.
Physical Requirements
Ability to hear effectively to take a guest order in person and over the phone.
Ability to type and tap keys to complete point of service sale.
Ability to make changes and calculate tickets manually if necessary.
Ability to walk/stand up 100% of the time.
Ability to grasp, hold, set down, redirect with hands, turn, control, and manipulate objects.
Ability to use body parts, arms, hands, shoulders, and back, to elevate an object above its previous surface level. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds waist high and up to 20 pounds overhead.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, carry, push and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis; must be able to stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.
Ability to climb steps, ladders, and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level.
Ability to use body parts on a regular and continuing basis to repeat the same motions for a reasonable period of time without resting.
The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum two years of high-volume experience preferably in hotels or restaurants.
Exceptional guest service skills.
Must be able to work without close supervision.
Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends.
Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant.
Tips certification and or Safe Serve Certification, responsible vendors.
