POSITION SUMMARY: This entry-level position provides an introduction to restaurant management. The primary responsibilities of this role are to assist Front of House management with day-to-day restaurant operations. The Floor Supervisor will assist with opening and closing shifts, handle basic restaurant administrative tasks, and assist with supervising floor/service during hours of operation.
The objective of this role is to provide sufficient training and development for the Floor Supervisor to be able to step into a management role in the future.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are intended as basic requirements. Success will come to the individual that is able to expand upon these job requirements. These requirements may change over the course of employment.
· Supervise daily shift operations and ensure compliance with all restaurant policies, standards and procedures.
· Knowledge of all functions and duties of restaurant employees and related departments as necessary
· Open and close restaurant shifts and ensure completion of assigned shift checklist and other duties, including closing reports and procedures.
· Create floor plans for shifts and ensure restaurant is staffed according to business needs.
· Interact with guests and set a strong example of guest service.
· Assist team members on the floor with guests during meal periods and high demand times
· Handle guest complaints and ensure the guest is content with the overall experience by touching tables and initiating service recovery when necessary.
· Support servers and hosts on the floor during meal periods and high demand times – assisting as needed to ensure smooth guest experience.
· Responsible for monitoring timecards on a daily basis, including clock-in and clock-out reports during closing.
· Run and interpret department reports as necessary.
· Assist with promotions and new initiatives, not limited to beverage, marketing, food, sales incentives, cultural activities, etc.
· Assist with the handling and service of all bookings of restaurant parties, events, catering, functions, off-site events, etc.
· Assist and follow through for all guest conflicts and resolutions.
· Participate in department meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the company goals to produce desired results
· Record meeting minutes on Monday.com with appropriate tags, deadlines, etc. Follow up with meeting minutes.
· Oversee and delegate appropriately the work and workload of subordinates
· Conduct pre-meal briefings (line-ups) with management to educate restaurant staff on menu items including ingredients, preparation methods and unique tastes.
· Program daily menu specials and changes in the point of sale system.
· Supervise restaurant and all related areas.
· Monitor alcohol beverage service in compliance with local laws.
· Understand how to operate all department equipment (coffee machines, ice machines, sound system, etc.) and report malfunctions as they arise.
· Supervise staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met on a daily basis.
· Ensure employees follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules and keep their work areas clean and sanitary.
· Maintain food handling and sanitation standards.
· Ensure all employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
· Participate as needed in the investigation of employee incidents and guest accidents and complete the necessary recovery steps (provide medical assistance or seek alternate treatment) and the necessary reporting steps (documentation and incident reports).
· Understand and comply with loss prevention policies and procedures (cash and credit card handling, restaurant property and equipment, guest property).
· Handle and report employee questions and concerns to management.
· Create and maintain a work culture in line with company values and expectations; people first.
· Promote culture within management team to drive and maintain the company’s people first values.
· Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between coworkers.
· Constantly increase knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services of all staff.
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently.
Administrative Skills:
· Knowledge of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, payroll software, POS)
· Ensure company documents and sensitive information is confidential and secure.
· Ensure all paperwork is accurately submitted.
· Attend required meetings.
· Active response and oversight of company’s emails and all communications.
· Maintain a Food Manager and Alcohol Certification.
Minimum Qualifications
· Has some experience in Food or Beverage operations, preferably in a high-volume hotel or restaurant
· Exceptional guest service and employee relation skills.
