Salary: Starting at $24 - $30 per hour, depending on experience.
Hours: Monday - Friday and bi-weekly on-call rotation. *Overtime opportunities are common; you may be required to work weekends and holidays to support US Ecology's 24/7/365 operations.
What is the job?
Marine Emergency Response Technicians are on the front line of protecting the environment, both on and offshore. This exciting opportunity will have you working to contain, prevent, and perform the clean-up of hazardous and non-hazardous material spills. Each day will be different where you could work on regularly scheduled projects, or you may be the first to be called in the case of an environmental emergency. These emergencies may be caused by any number of incidents including oil spills, accidents, train derailments, fires, floods, and other natural disasters.
Our technicians are highly trained and projects are completed safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
You will also regularly
Deploy and operate light and heavy equipment relating to marine services, emergency spill response, industrial cleaning and site cleanup projects including, but not limited to, workboats, skimmers, pumps, blowers, marine/mobile cranes, vacuum transfer systems, etc.
Load and unload equipment, boom, and anchors from and into vessels, vans, flatbeds, and trailers.
Attach and deploy boom of various sizes and set and remove anchor systems.
Perform inventory, maintenance, and cleanup of boats, equipment, and work areas to ensure supplies are available and compliant.
Work with a team on projects performing labor-intensive tasks while in potentially dirty and or harsh environments in varying weather conditions. (emergencies don't always happen on beautiful and clear days)
What you need to apply
Hazwoper Certification (preferred, not required)
Ability to obtain TWIC Card
Skilled using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
