Fleet Maintenance Manager

Salary: $112k - $135k per year, DOE, plus incentives.
Position Overview:
The CA Fleet Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s fleet of approximately 1150 assets. This includes 364 Trucks / trailers & vehicles. 106 Marine vessels & equipment. 29 Offroad equipment (Yellow Iron, forklifts, etc.). 590 Specialty / ER equipment (Vac trucks, etc.). 128 Roll-off bins. The CA BU consists of several divisions including San Diego, Alameda, Chico, Long Beach, Dixon, and Hesperia. The Fleet Manager must present a strong hands-on approach at all the locations within their assigned BU. This individual must be able to problem solve, possess positive leadership skills, be able to prioritize and most importantly be a strong communicator.
A Day in the Life
Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside sources for repairs.
Make recommendations on what kind and how many vehicles the company should purchase.
Market and resell company vehicles when no longer useful or at the end of their Lifecycle.
Monitor and analyze all opportunities to cut costs and improve effectiveness.
Work with the registration and permit department regarding registrations and licenses on all vehicles and keeping Compliance inspections up to date.
Oversee Mechanics work order and schedules.
Maintain general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, structural and operation function of all fleet equipment.
Coordinate with Marine Operations as necessary.
Demonstrated effective supervision of team resulting in efficient operations and engaged workforce.
Be sufficient in technology-based maintenance and monitoring programs (FLEETIO, SAMARA, D365, ORACLE).
Work with our CA and DOT manager on the permits, licensing/registrations.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree.
7+ years industry experience in fleet maintenance management or fleet shop operations within the auto/diesel industry.
3+ years of successful people management experience.
Prior technician/mechanic experience is a plus.
Familiarity with light-heavy truck/trailer and equipment repair and maintenance.
Must be able to travel as needed to visit all business unit locations up to 50% of the time. Once up to speed in role, travel will be approximately 30% to 40% of the time.
Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT requirements and regulations.
Ability to multi-task on projects to support operations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management
Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new programs as they develop in the maintenance departments and company abroad.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
