Property Accountant

Location: Syracuse, NY
Established Property Management Company is seeking an energetic, organized and detail-oriented Property Accountant to work Full-Time in its main office located in Syracuse, NY.
Microsoft Office Skills: Solid experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced technical skills in designing and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets.
Other Software Skills: General Ledger Accounting with Financial Reporting software experience preferred.
Position Requirements

- Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding financial analysis and reporting
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills
- Successful self-starter and the ability to work independently
- Ability to adapt to and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong data entry, problem-solving, and ability to meet hard deadlines
- Both Accounts Payable and Receivable experience is required
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department
- Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships within the company, property owners, business partners and interested parties
- Professional attitude and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for all aspect of accounting through Trial Balance for multiple entities
- Reconcile and analyze all general ledger accounts
- Process and post all Accounts Payable, Invoices and Cash Receipts for multiple locations
- Prepare monthly journal entries with appropriate documentation for all locations
- Multiple monthly bank reconciliations and cash reports
- Identify accounting and reporting discrepancies, initiate corrective action and recommend solutions
- Provide accounting support to Property Managers
- Manage Ad-hoc accounting projects as assigned, including budgets
- Work with Accounting Firms to timely prepare for and answer questions regarding year-end tax returns and investors K-1’s.
Associates or BS Degree in Accounting or related field is required, along with GAAP knowledge. Preferably with at least three years of related experience.
