Position Summary: |
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing catalyst production processes and for providing technical support to the facility. The Process Engineer is an active participant in cross-functional project teams, global initiatives, and operational improvement teams. The Process Engineer will work closely with their supervisors and other plant personnel to provide operational support and complete various projects. Attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality work are required to ensure catalyst plant operation remains safe, compliant, reliable, and profitable. |
Essential Duties: |
|
All duties to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company policies and procedures while maintaining regular, prompt attendance and availability for off-hours support as needed: |
- Monitor and report on process performance, product cost, and operational logistics
- Serve as the site technical expert on the catalyst manufacturing process
- Identify and implement process upgrades and optimization projects
- Collaborate with on-site teams to drive yield and profitability improvements
- Facilitate discussion between Avon Plant and Elessent R&D teams
- Communicate process risks and opportunities to the organization
- Troubleshoot process and quality issues
- Establish operating guidance and parameters
- Manage planning and execution of new catalyst test runs
- Participate in capital project reviews

Physical Demands: |
The tasks of this position generally require the Process Engineer to be:
- Able to work seated at a desk while working on a computer for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights (including ability to wear fall protection and to do moderate stair/ ladder climbing)
- Comfortable entering small, confined spaces during equipment inspection
- Capable of wearing a respirator
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds

Work Environment: |
- Maintain an on-site presence during normal business hours
- Regularly work in an office environment with controlled temperature
- Routinely perform field work in a heavy industrial manufacturing plant
- Work in environments where noise level varies from light to heavy depending on work location and wear hearing protection where applicable.
- Periodically provide night and weekend support as required

Education/Experience
- 4-year Chemical Engineering degree (Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering)
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in developing and troubleshooting material and energy balances preferred
- Experienced using enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (e.g. SAP, Epicor, etc.) preferred
- Experienced using MS Projects or similar project management software preferred
- AutoCAD experience preferred

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization including technicians, engineers, contractors, EHS representatives, and management
- Demonstrated project management skills preferred
