LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling and commercializing of innovative glass products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall’s transparent insulation technology, Enthermal Glass, provides a step change in energy performance by significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings. Acting as a transparent thermos bottle for building, LuxWall has the potential to reduce global carbon emissions by more than 0.5 gigaton per year with mass adoption. Enthermal Glass will forever change the way buildings are designed and constructed for the future sustainability of our plant.
Role Overview:
The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of our glass manufacturing facility. This role includes managing production schedules, ensuring safety and compliance, plant finance and accounting, optimizing production processes, and leading a team of supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the glass industry, strong leadership skills, and a focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material handling to final product shipment.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resources.
- Monitor and manage plant performance metrics, including production output, quality, and costs.
- Implement metrics and measure results to ensure company goals are achieved.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture by implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and maintenance staff.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and training to improve team performance.
- Create the best-in-class manufacturing culture to enable LuxWall to meet its growth potential.
- Report to the Company Board of Directors monthly with operational status and performance.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve productivity, and optimize resource utilization.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the plant budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure financial targets are met.
- Prepare regular reports on plant performance and financial status for senior management.
P&L:
- Strategic decisions that drive revenue, manage costs, and increase profitability.
- Driving the financial performance of LuxWall.
- Overseeing LuxWall’s income and expenses
- Working towards maximizing profits and minimizing expenses to gain a net operating profit.
Maintenance and Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of plant equipment and facilities to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Manage capital projects, including equipment upgrades and new installations.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in plant management, with a strong preference for experience in the glass manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using SAP and manufacturing software and systems (e.g., ERP, MES).
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Quality Focus: In-depth knowledge of quality control principles and practices.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Manufacturing Skills: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety regulations in the glass industry.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leadership and team development.
- Glass Experience: Experience working with glass, coatings, fabricated glass and glass systems, a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and raw materials.
- The Plant Manager may need to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet production deadlines.
